The National Park and lakes around Iznajar provide some wonderful walks along with horse riding, fishing and canoeing.
Iznájar is a village and municipal area in the province of Córdoba in Andalucia, southern Spain. It lies on the Genil river approximately 110 km from the provincial capital of Córdoba very close to the borders with both Málaga and Granada provinces at a height of 539 metres above sea level.
The village itself is situated on top of a huge rocky outcropping overlooking the Embalse de Iznájar, the largest lake in the whole of Andalucía, which is frequented throughout the warm season as a beach.
The principal economic activity of the area is the cultivation of olives although tourism is increasingly becoming an economic factor.
Iznájar is a classic "pueblo blanco", or white village and is surrounded by its "Aldeas" - sub villages including La Celada, El Higueral, Solerche to name but three.
Iznajar’s spectacular La Feria Real runs from 7th-11th September where there is a candlelight procession through the town on the 8th September. This is in honour of the patron Saint San Marcos.
Malaga airport and the coast are approximately 1 hour by car. The beautiful city of Granada and its airport are around 45 minutes.
The ski-ing area of the Sierra Nevada can be reached in around 1 ˝ hours.
Within 35 minutes drive is the town of Antequera providing not only a worthwhile visit but a main line fast rail network to Seville, Malaga and Madrid.
Cordoba, another wonderful city, lies within the hour to the North.
